Pennsylvania Sales Center is an active platform for early-career opportunities. Learners are exposed to licenses, internships, co-ops, apprenticeships, field training programs, collegiate sales programs, and sales leadership development programs. 

A sales career is filled with endless opportunities, offering the potential for growth and fulfillment. No matter the field or industry, every step presents a chance to expand skills, explore new paths, and achieve greater heights.

We provide various types of career development opportunities available to students with different career focus:

Internships

Co-Ops

Apprenticeships

 

Internships. Numerous paid internship work opportunities are offered by our partner organizations and other companies. They typically last for a semester or a year. Internships are often used to gain experience in a trade and explore career paths. Corporate partner organizations offer over 50 internships to WCU sales students every year. 

Co-Ops. Cooperative education programs are more structured and integrated into a student’s academic curriculum than internships. In a co-op, students alternate between full-time work and academic semesters. Corporate partners offer co-ops to help students gain in-depth and extended sales experience in specific industries.

Apprenticeships. We offer long-term programs designed to teach students a trade or specialized skill through a combination of on-the-job training and classroom instruction. Students receive apprenticeship from selected corporate partner organizations to work-study in highly skilled sales fields.

Career Development Workshops

Career Shadowing Days

Career development workshops. Workshops are held every semester to help students enhance their professional skills and prepare for the job market. Our workshop topics cover topics such as resume writing, interview techniques, networking strategies, and personal branding. 

Career shadowing. Career shadowing allows our students to observe and interact with seasoned sales professionals in their day-to-day work environment. This experience gives students a firsthand look at what a specific sales position is really like.

Collegiate Sales Programs

Field Sales Training Programs

 

Collegiate sales programs. These credit-bearing programs are offered in collaboration with corporate partners to prepare students for sales careers. The programs include class training in sales techniques, customer relationship management, negotiation, and communication, along with real-world experiences. Students will obtain practical sales skills along with college credits. We are a founding institution for the Philadelphia Flyers College Sales Program.

Field training programs. Sales trainees will participate in corporate partners’ training courses that involve real duties, such as prospecting, cold calling, sales merchandising, or technical services. In these roles, students work in the field under the guidance of experienced mentors or supervisors.

Leadership Development Programs

Sales development programs. Entry-level sales training initiatives are offered by many partner organizations to prepare students for sales management roles. These programs focus on building essential sales managerial skills such as sales planning, budgeting, and field sales during full-time employment. Management development programs is designed to groom entry-level sales trainees for the next level management positions by providing a strong foundation in sales operations. More than 10 corporate partner organizations regularly recruit our students into their sales development programs.

Leadership development programs. Many companies place a stronger emphasis on cultivating high-potential sales talents for future leadership roles. These programs include rotations across departments, mentorship from senior leaders, and executive-style coaching. Our corporate partners typically seek students who have already demonstrated strong performance and leadership potential.

Sales Licenses

 Sales Career Certificates

Industry Sales Certificates

 

Sales licenses. State or industry licenses are required for selling certain products and services in the U.S., especially in roles like financial advisor, investment representative, insurance agent, or real estate broker. We offer workshops and courses to help students obtain SIE, SAFE, PA Life and Health, PA Property and Casualty, and PA Real Estate Salesperson licenses. 

Sales career certificates. WCU offers a number of career certificates that provide proof of specialized sales knowledge in a particular subject or field. Our career sales certificates in medical sales, financial sales, and tech sales are useful for students looking to deepen their expertise in a specific area, while enhance employability.

Industry sales certificates. These certificates are issued by professional organizations or industry bodies to validate practical, job-specific sales skills. We are an academic partner organization for a number of highly sought industry sales certificates issued by Salesforce, Qlik, HubSpot, and SAP. We have also incorporated the pharmaceutical sales representative certificate into our sales education.
